What is Prenatal & Postpartum Care?

Prenatal and Postpartum care is about taking care of a mother while she is pregnant, just after pregnancy, or through the loss of a child during or just following pregnancy. It takes place at time when a mother can be more vulnerable and sensitive because of all that is happening in her body, including hormonal changes and/or the emotional adjustment of having her first child, or an additional child to care for.

It is also a time to come alongside women who struggle in a variety of ways, from battling infertility, to wanting to be a mom but can’t be due to certain limitations in their life. There are often many emotions that surround getting pregnant or the inability to get pregnant. We offer care and hope for women wherever they find themselves in the journey of motherhood.

Prenatal counseling can help anxious mothers by teaching tips and tricks for managing anxiety to finding ways to prepare before their little one comes. A counselor can come alongside to offer support, to help her know she is not alone on this journey, and by helping her find other supportive moms who have walked the same journey. Postpartum counseling helps moms work through the stress of having a new addition to their family, and in dealing with a variety of very real changes as their hormones return to normal. Compassionate care is available for those dealing with miscarriage or stillbirth. We’re here to support a mother through any of the various ups and downs of motherhood, the challenges that come along the way, and encouraging them as they communicate their needs to others in their life, like their partners, family and friends.
